Grand Old Airshow
September brings a home game for Warbirds Over Long Island with The Grand Old Airshow at Brookhaven Airport. The Grand Old Airshow is a two day trip back to the golden days of aviation and is a great time for all ages. This show features World War I dog fights, open cockpit bi-planes, World War II fighters and quite a few post war beauties. You can also see antique cars and motorcycles with a lot of rein-actors in period dress complete with parasols and antique bicycles.

Floyd BEnnett Field Fly-in
The season is moving right along and that brings us to the Floyd Bennett Field Fly-in.

Floyd Bennett Field was New York City's first municipal airport. It was the site of many flying records and aviation history. Tom Brown sent us a great overview of the field’s incredible history with some wonderful historic images. You can read about Floyd Bennett Field’s history during the Golden Age of Aviation at this website. Read more

American Airpower Museum
I can think of no better way to spend the long Labor Day weekend than surrounded by warbirds and great friends new and old. At Warbirds Over Long Island, Labor Day weekend is the signal to pack up and head across the island to the American Airpower Museum at Republic field in Farmingdale, NY for a great weekend of fun.

Chris and Bob flew the P-51 and the P-40 in formation on Friday afternoon and made short work of the flight over to Farmingdale. The planes were positioned on the ramp for prime viewing. Read more

Jimmy Stewart Airport Airshow
Well the season is flying by like the “Old Exterminator” on a strafing run, but the Warbirds still have a quite a few events before the end of the season.

I will try and get the pilots debriefed so I can get the details and photos out to you ASAP.

The Warbirds had a great time recently at the Jimmy Stewart Airport Festival in Indiana County, Penn. (IDI) Read more

Well, it’s time again for Geneseo, an entertaining grass strip event that really feels like a good old-fashioned air show. The flight up was smooth and enjoyable, and with no significant weather to mar the trip, the guys lined up for their arrival approach around noon on Thursday. Once on the ground with planes parked, the Mustang was put on static display next to the well-known B-17 "Memphis Belle", in support of the Tuskegee Red Tail Project. This program brings inner-city kids out to the airport and teaches them not only about airplanes but also about the amazing people who flew them. Former Tuskegee pilots were on hand to speak with the kids, who truly witnessed history that afternoon. Read more

Thunder Over Michigan Airshow 2007
Welcome back to Warbirds Over Long Island.

The guys are back from the “Thunder Over Michigan” air show at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan and brought rave reviews of the show.

Bob and Chris arrived at the Warbirds hanger before sun-up on Friday morning to get an early start to the show, but rain and low ceilings pre-vented their take off until almost 9 a.m. Read more

Binghamton Air Show 2007
There's no doubt the season is flying by with the arrival last week of a perennial favorite, the Binghamton Show. The flight over was quite entertaining for Chris since he had a noted non-stop source of comic relief , Jeff “Cubby Costanza” Petrocelli, as a passenger in the back of the P-51.

Except for a twenty-second bout of rain over the Connecticut coast, the weather held out beautifully for the flight’s arrival early Friday afternoon. With the weather cooperating, the guys flew the rest of the trip with a picture-perfect backdrop of beautiful clouds. Bob and Chris flew in formation and arrived at Binghamton with a low approach and a break over the field to set up for landing. Read more

Mid-Atlantic Air Museum 2007
If you are a true history buff or even have just a casual interest in WW II, you need to attend Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s Word War II Weekend in Reading Pennsylvania. It has to be one of the best events of the season. This year’s event was filled with airshows, historical reenactments, discussions and lectures from notable WWII veterans.

There were hundreds of vehicles from all theaters of the war, military camps and mock battles between the Allied troops and axis troops including armor and air cover. There was also a reenactment of the flag raising on Iwo Jima. Read more

Memorial Day 2007
It was truly a pleasure for Warbirds Over Long Island to be part of the recent Memorial Day celebrations and to help honor those who gave their lives in military service to our country. We were about as busy as you could get in this business, but we sure had a great time. The weekend started with fly-bys for the Angel Flight organization dinner. We also conducted news interviews, attended the Memorial Day Airshow at the American Airpower Museum, the New York Air Show at Jones Beach, the Millville Airshow and concluded the weekend ops with The Northport Memorial Day Parade. It was exhausting, but all you have to do is remember the men who flew those six hour missions to Berlin and back on a daily basis, and it doesn’t seem so tough any more. Read more

Andrews AFB Airshow
What an airshow! If the rest of the season is this good, it could go down as our best season ever. There was so much iron on the runway and in the air it was difficult to take it all in. Chris and Bob arrived at Andrews AFB on Thursday with the P-51 and the P-40. Since they were flying in the show, the planes were kept on a “hot ramp” about a thousand feet from where they were keeping all of the static aircraft displays. Read more

McGuire AFB Airshow
Well, the Warbirds season is under way. We kicked off the season with our first appearance at McGuire AFB in New Jersey with the P-51 Mustang, P-40 Warhawk and the PT-19 Stearman. It was a great weekend and we got to meet a lot of our website visitors. We were very proud to meet on of the original Tuskegee airman. It was the first time in a long time that he had the opportunity to saddle up in the P-51 he flew so many years ago. He also had operational time in the P-40 as well as training it the Stearman.
